Erasmus + Sport 2024 Project

KK Ogulin is proud to be a partner in the Erasmus+ Sport project “Keep the Ball Rolling (KBR)”, an 18-month international initiative that brings together seven organizations from six countries: Serbia, Cyprus, Croatia, Romania, Turkey, and Bulgaria. The project is dedicated to promoting sports participation, encouraging healthier lifestyles, and strengthening inclusivity across Southeast Europe, with basketball as the key vehicle to connect people of all ages and abilities.

Kick-Off Meeting – Kraljevo, Serbia

In January 2025, representatives of KK Ogulin attended the opening meeting in Kraljevo, Serbia. The gathering introduced the project’s goals, activity plan, and collaborative structure. It was also an opportunity for all partners to get to know each other, share experiences, and lay the foundations for effective teamwork.

Sport Event – Antalya, Turkey

From May 15–18, 2024, Antalya hosted the second major project activity. Organized by the association LİDOSK with the support of the City of Antalya, the event featured workshops on ethics in sport, inclusive training strategies, and the promotion of lifelong participation. The highlight was a 3×3 Fair Play Basketball Tournament, which brought together 304 players across multiple age categories—including children, adults, and athletes with disabilities. A total of 122 games were played, showcasing that fair play and inclusion truly transcend boundaries.

Workshops – Sofia, Bulgaria

On April 28, 2025, the project continued in Sofia, Bulgaria, with a focus on wheelchair basketball, inclusive coaching methods, and veteran basketball. Participants attended lectures, took part in practical workshops, and even experienced playing adaptive basketball themselves. The program emphasized equal opportunities for people with disabilities and highlighted sport as a universal language of connection and respect.

Activities – Nicosia, Cyprus

A six-member delegation from KK Ogulin joined the activities in Cyprus, which included both sporting and cultural exchanges. The team coached a girls’ basketball match, played a friendly game with a local veterans’ team, and shared valuable experiences with international partners. Alongside games and workshops, participants enjoyed traditional Cypriot hospitality, reinforcing the project’s mission of teamwork, friendship, and cultural understanding.

Conclusion

Through these events, the KBR project continues to prove that basketball is more than just a sport—it is a tool for inclusion, education, and community building. From competitive matches to inclusive workshops, every activity strengthens international cooperation and promotes values of fair play, respect, and togetherness.
